How to find people on B5

The Diary page is getting pretty full, isn't it?
  • Did you find something good to read on B5?
  • Do you want to read more by that same person?
  • Did your teacher assign you a partner on B5?
How can you find someone quickly and easily?

Read inside to find out, and ask yourself this question: "Do I need to print these instructions?"

Everyone on B5 has a User Info page. Here is my User Info page. This page tells a little bit about each person on B5 and has links to everything that they wrote. There are a few ways you can find someone's User Info page: bookmarking, searching, and browsing. They each have good and bad points, so let's check them one by one.

Bookmarks
If you are on your own computer, or if your school computer remembers who you are, then you can use a bookmark to make it very easy to return to someone's User Info page. Also, you can bookmark any Diary that you want to read again. Just use the bookmark menu on your web browser. Now you can go back anytime with one click. But, first you have to know where the User Info page is! Also, you can't always use your own bookmarks (like when you are on another person's computer).

Search
Look over on the right side of the page. There is a box called "Menu". Inside the box you will see a link called search. It does just that, it searches B5 for you. You can look for words in stories, diaries, and comments. Also, you can search for a User-- if you remember his or her name.

  • Click search.
  • Then, see where it says Find: "Stories"? Click on the button that says "Stories" and change it to "Users".
  • Next, type the name, or part of the name, in the space after Containing.
  • Click the Search button and you should see the person's name as a link.
That link will lead you to the User Info page and all the person's diaries, stories, and comments. You can use this anytime you have access to B5.

Browse
Sometimes I can't remember the User's name exactly. Diaries are listed by date, so just go to the Diaries section and click the "Next" button at the bottom of ther page. Do that until you get to the right date. Do you see the Diary? OK!

That can take a while, but you might find other interesting Diaries and writers while you browse. If you want to save time, here is a shortcut. Maybe you see another Diary or comment by that User. Look for his or her name: it should be a link. Just click the Username-- that's it.

Remember: anytime you click someone's name on B5, you go to their User Info page. Pretty easy!

About family ( Comment #1)
by choro on Tue May 11, 2004 at 02:14:29 PM PST

Hello! My name is choro. Nice to meet you.
I think you will have a great time in villa. My family do not have any villas. So I am very envious of you. And what is more, it seems that you enjoy holidays with your family. I don't have such time these days. This is because my younger brother is studying hard for passing entrance examination and both of my parents don't like to go to the crowded places. So I don't have opportunities now.
When I was a child, maybe a elementary school student, I often went to the amusement grounds with my father and mother. So I want to go such places with my family again some day!!

Are you lost? ( Comment #2)

I think this comment was supposed to go somewhere else, right? I can't move it, but if you send me an e-mail, I can make it disappear if you want.

Don't worry. It takes a while to get used to using the WWW. I put a lot of comments in the wrong places when I got started.

Golf ( Comment #3)
by choro on Tue May 18, 2004 at 05:42:29 AM PST

I think that you had a great time during the 'Golden Week' holidays. It seems that you are good at golf. I have ever done golf. When I was a high school student, there was golf in physical education. At first I thought that golf is a very boring sport. But after learnig how to do golf, I found out golf is a very interesting sport. Though I was not good at golf, I was very excited. Regrettably, I did not have a opportunity to do golf again. So I want to do it.
